J.Crew is one of my favorite stores to find classic well-made pieces that are staples in my closet for both everyday and work. I'm loving the trends in their collection this season. For the ladies, patterns are everywhere, especially florals, plaids and animal prints. For the guys, it's all about sweater weather; from cardigans to crew necks to shawl collars, they all look great on guys. I also love chambray shirts for guys in the fall paired with a fitted herringbone blazer.

STYLE STORY: TECHWEEK CHICAGO FASHION SHOW

This week my sister and I were given free passes to attend the Techweek Chicago Fashion Show and how could we pass that up? Miraculously, we both were able to attend and take in the new experience.

We both had no idea what to expect. I mean, a fashion show at Techweek? Who would even think to put two and two together? Then we were wondering what we would see strutting down the catwalk. Would it be your typical fashion show or would they incorporate crazy new tech-y fashion products?

Style Story: Woven Sunset

One of my favorite things to do is watch the sun set. While sunsets are beautiful at a beach on some tropical island, there's something spectacular about watching day turn to night in Chicago. The sky is shaded like woven colors on a tapestry. And the skyline basks in the glory of the sun making the skyscrapers glimmer in the light. It's a wonderful thing how God's creation shines light so seamlessly on man made creation to make it even more majestic.

Travel/Style Story: Hong Kong Style Haul

So sorry for the short hiatus. A couple days after I left Hong Kong, my dear grandma passed away. It was a tough time for me since she was one of my favorite people and her love for God was infectious. She always spoke of being with Jesus one day, and it brings peace to my heart knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now in the comforting arms of Jesus. I'm dedicating this post to my grandma since we share a similar love for fashion. Her style icon was Audrey Hepburn & she always kept up with the latest fashion while also being a smart shopper. She was brilliant with sewing and knitting allowing her to make her own clothes & for her family. Basically, she was amazing. There are so many memories with her that I will always cherish. I love her and miss her so much, but I'm thankful that this goodbye is not forever for us.

As you may have read from previous posts, I was in Hong Kong for a much needed vacation. And as always, shopping sprees are involved when I'm visiting this city because it is the place to find incredible clothes for a steal. Also, it's a chance to get a good look at new fashions and quirky Asian fashion which is always fun.

Travel Style Story: Hong Kong Island Adventure

I've been so incredibly lucky to have been able to travel to Hong Kong numerous times throughout my life and it never gets old. You'd think that Hong Kong is a tiny city, but you would be so wrong! Each section of it is worth spending a bit of time to explore and there are small islands and new territories to visit as well!

Style Story: Boho Chic

Hello from Hong Kong! Yes, I'm back again and pinching myself for being this fortunate to get to spend so much time here with my extended family. I'm on my two weeks of vacation between third and fourth of med school so I'm not going on any side trips to other countries in Asia and I'll be relaxing in this wonderful city the entire time. My plan is to eat back all the pounds I lost this past year (I may or may not have already accomplished this...) while scouring the street markets for great deals on clothes. I plan to share my fabulous bargain finds with you all soon, so stay tuned! Now on to this style story...

Style Story: Chambray & Polka Dots

"I'm a tad bit polka-dot obsessed." Understatement of my life.

I've always loved polka dots, so when it came back into style, my obsession worsened now seems only slightly ridiculous. Which leads to this style story...

Style Story: Emerald + Cobalt

There are some things about emerald green and cobalt blue that make me happy. They are colors that can be worn all year round. By themselves, they are beautiful colors that look good on anyone & any skin tone, as is evident on Allison Williams, Lupita Nyong'o, and Jamie Chung in cobalt blue and Sarah Hyland & Lupita in emerald. But together, they are a bold and powerful visual force that are so aesthetically pleasing.

Style Story: Whatever is Lovely

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of Lindsay Letters. As I've shared before in my gift ideas posts, she creates gorgeous prints filled with words of truth. They make great wall decor and she also makes mugs, stationary, stamps and apparel with her prints. I can go on and on about her creative abilities, but you just need to check out her shop & be willingly led into her vault of beautiful things.

Style Story: Polka Dots + Neutrals

HAPPY SPRING! Too bad the weather celebrated the first day of Spring with a small blizzard. Perhaps it was winters way of bowing out gracefully. Hopefully.

Since I've been wearing tons of color lately, I thought I'd tone it down a bit. Of course I choose to wear a more "wintery" look when the weather is finally 40 degrees above zero. Basically shorts and a tank top weather around here. Hopefully for a good while. We've had enough of you, Chiberia.

Style Story: Feelin' Rockstar

If you follow me on Instagram, you might know that I've been doing a super fun #StyleMeMarch closet remix challenge that the lovely & adorable Hilary of Dean Street Society puts together. Each day there's a theme to give you inspiration to see your closet in a new light and piece together an amazing outfit for your day. At times, I can put together an outfit in no time, while at other times I am in total struggle bus mode. But I love it! It's supposed to be a challenge! Here's this month's challenge:

Life/Style Story: Mocha Club + FashionABLE

Mocha Club has been a part of my life for over 5 years and I have been encouraged by the works that they do in Africa. I know I've shared about this amazing organization in past gift ideas posts [1,2], but I thought I'd dedicate a post about how you can get involve and make this a gift to yourself by becoming a member of this organization. When you join, you will receive awesome free products from their store, but that's not truly what I mean when I said this would be a gift to yourself...

Style Story: Valentine Pink Ombre

Happy Valentines Day!

Last week I shared ideas on how to wear red for this holiday. But my favorite color is pink and what better reason to wear it than for Valentines Day?

Style Story: February Red

It snowed this weekend and it was a heatwave outside with a temperature of 30 degrees Fahrenheit, so I thought it'd be fun to take advantage of the beautiful weather and snap some photos outside on a rooftop. I'm not joking when I say it was a heatwave since Chiberia #1 and #2 made us suffer below zero weather for weeks. It's never fun when your boogers freeze the second you step outside, am I right?

Style Story: Dubai Dress

When people ask me about my trip to Dubai, my answer is always, "I miss Dubai so much!" But that is a huge understatement.

Style Story: Hong Kong Winter

While packing for my trip to Asia, I checked the weather forecast which informed me that it would be in the 60s. YES. Early Fall weather, my favorite!

What to bring? I decided on light layers, dresses & skirts. The heaviest item I brought was my North Face fleece since I needed something to wear in Chicago on the way to the airport. Too bad it still wasn't enough since I was frozen walking to the L, but thankfully the excitement of my new adventure helped me forget the cold.

Style Story: Christmas Pastels

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Thankfully, I got to spend mine with my parents and friends, so there was lots of love and joy as we gathered to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

If you checked out my Christmas decor storyboard, you would know that this year I decided to create a pastel themed tablescape. So to continue that theme, I decided to wear a pink color block dress that, with the right accessories, can be worn as Christmas attire.

Style Story: Fall Frocks

My favorite thing about fall is that fact that I can have more fun styling my dresses. I love the look of a cute frock paired with riding boots, leggings and/or a chunky sweater or coat.

The major plus of Fall layering is transitioning Spring and Summer dresses into Fall so they get more mileage! I've worn all of these adorable dresses in the warmer months and I don't have to hide them until Spring comes around again!

However, not all dresses can be transitioned into colder months. So when you set your eyes on a cute frock that you want to wear year round, the most important detail to consider is the color. Single color dresses are the simplest, especially in a neutral or jewel tone. If you find a patterned dress, make sure that the predominant color is a darker neutral.

Here are a few Fall looks with some of my year-round dresses to give you ideas for what kinds of dresses you can search for and how to dress them up!

Style Story: Fall Sister Style

When life is a constant marathon and you don't have time to notice nature's beauty around you, it's a problem. When the leaves just started changing this Fall, it took me a week to notice the obvious beauty of some climbing vines in the city alley behind our house. Cue the realization that I need to slow down and stop being so absorbed with the lists of things I need to get done and instead, take the time to soak in the beauty of God's creation.

I love how the colors of these vines bring life to the usual drab of our little alley. Jess came up with this brilliant idea to use it as a backdrop, so sister style part 2 came to be.
