Travel/Style Story: Hong Kong Style Haul

So sorry for the short hiatus. A couple days after I left Hong Kong, my dear grandma passed away. It was a tough time for me since she was one of my favorite people and her love for God was infectious. She always spoke of being with Jesus one day, and it brings peace to my heart knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now in the comforting arms of Jesus. I'm dedicating this post to my grandma since we share a similar love for fashion. Her style icon was Audrey Hepburn & she always kept up with the latest fashion while also being a smart shopper. She was brilliant with sewing and knitting allowing her to make her own clothes & for her family. Basically, she was amazing. There are so many memories with her that I will always cherish. I love her and miss her so much, but I'm thankful that this goodbye is not forever for us.

As you may have read from previous posts, I was in Hong Kong for a much needed vacation. And as always, shopping sprees are involved when I'm visiting this city because it is the place to find incredible clothes for a steal. Also, it's a chance to get a good look at new fashions and quirky Asian fashion which is always fun.

This time around, I had specific items in mind for spring and summer while I shopped so I didn't make any fun & crazy purchases (no robot prints or funky sleeves). Some followers on Instagram have been asking where I got these pieces and it breaks my heart when I have to tell them that it's not available to them. So I did some digging online since I knew most of these pieces would eventually make it on many online shops & I found a few! Unfortunately, they're not sold at the prices I snatched these at, but they are still affordable. And many of these are pieces that you can wear for years so it's worth the small investment!

1. Full Midi Skirts:

My favorite trend of the moment is the full midi skirt. It fits so well into my girly style & I cannot wait to wear these amazing finds. I plan to dress them down for weekend brunch or dress them up for an upcoming wedding.
Available on YesStyle

I brought the skirt back to Hong Kong to wear to my grandma's funeral.

2. Florals:

I love flowers a lot. It's something I grew up loving since my grandma knew every flower we encountered & had the most amazing green thumb. I always reminisce back to the days when I would visit my grandparents in California and play in their blooming yard & eat the most delicious varieties of fruit freshly picked from her garden. My mom inherited her green thumb and I'm always looking forward to visiting home to indulge on the fresh vegetables from our garden & admire the blooming roses.

Though my style is girly, you would think my closet was filled to the brim with floral prints. Wrong! Luckily I scored these gorgeous staple & statement floral pieces that I cannot wait to wear to work and on weekends.

3. A New LBD:

I've been looking for a new LBD, but haven't found one in my price range in the States that I absolutely loved. Luckily, I was visiting a boutique at Metro City Plaza in Po Lam that usually has cute finds and I came across this simple lace LBD. It was love at first sight & it can easily be dressed up or down.

4. Printed Pants:

Never in a million years did I think I would bring myself to wear printed pants especially since it took me a couple years to hop on the colored pants train. However, I came across these prints and figured they were cheap enough to try out. And surprisingly, I love them on! Styling them is probably the most fun part since it challenges me to create looks I would have never put together previously.

  1. I'm sorry to hear about your grandma, I'm sure knowing she loved Jesus was comforting and there surely is life after death. You managed to get some really great pieces, learning how good the shopping is there makes me want to visit even more. Your cream/mint floral lace skirt reminds me of this gorgeous cardi from Anthro. Finding this piece on sale would be a dream.
