STYLE/TRAVEL STORY: KENYA

Hi Grace in Style family! If you missed my announcement on Instagram, I am heading to Kenya for a medical missions trip for a couple weeks! I will not be posting until I return, but I wanted to leave you with this.

Africa has been on my heart for so long. As I've mentioned in previous posts, I've supported organizations like Mocha Club, FashionABLEUnlock Hope and even had the amazing opportunity to go to Ghana for a medical mission trip 5 years ago with Unite For Sight. All of these organizations are incredible because of their mission to help Africa become self-sustainable and end the cycle of poverty.

What we will be doing on this trip is similar. We know without a doubt that whatever we do will not drastically change the lives of Kenyans or fix any issue in Kenya whatsoever. But we were asked by our partners in Kenya to help them fulfill the dire need to serve their underserved and provide medical assistance. We also hope to help them become self-sustainable by teaching basic entrepreneurial skills. But most of all, we hope to love the people who are hurting, listen to their stories and share the story of hope & grace with them.

When I went to Ghana, I remember the first thing I noticed was that in the most impoverished areas, they were the happiest. The kids danced & laughed with joy, played the most creative games with whatever they could find in the trash, and the people were generous with what little they had. I can't wait to learn more from Kenya on how to truly live a life of joy and how to love bigger. Basically, I need Africa more than Africa needs me.

You may be wondering, how can I help? Well, you can shop for a cause! Sevenly is one of my favorite places to shop for a cause. This top that I'm wearing is one of my favorites and it's back in stock! For each of these tops purchased, Sevenly donates $7 to Mocha Club, which will provide 2 students with education & 2 meals per day!!

I'm also wearing a key from Unlock Hope. Their organization provides education for refugee girls in Uganda to give them a brighter future! They now have T-shirts and 100% of profits go towards the education of these girls!!

Just practicing the traditional Maasai dance!
