As I've been talking about in past posts, Valentine's Day should be more than about romantic love. What we should be focusing on is figuring out how to love in a way that is purposeful, far-reaching and makes the world a more beautiful place.
How do we set out to love like that?
It's not easy! But one way we can love others is by supporting causes already striving to do just that. In high school, my eyes were opened to the horrific injustices around the world including child slavery & sex trafficking. International Justice Mission (IJM) is an amazing organization devoted to putting an end to these injustices.
Recently, IJM was Sevenly's featured charity! If you aren't familiar with Sevenly, it's an online shop that features a different charity each week and donates $7 of each purchase to the charity of the week! Such a cool model! And who doesn't like shopping when it's for a good cause? This week's charity is Hayden's Heart. Their mission is to raise awareness of congenital heart disease (CHD) and raise funds to support families of children with CHD!
In honor of Valentine's Day, I chose this heart design top to style for a casual VDay look. I love the quote from Helen Keller, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Love really is a beautiful thing!

ReplyDeleteI love what you had to share! I agree - Valentine's Day is exploited too much to be dubbed as a commercial holiday. It is all about the fancy things. It is good that you've touched about it here - there are so many other forms of love other than romance.
